Who is Emily Keyes?

Last September 27, 2006, Emily Keyes was a hostage on a hostage taking drama at The Platte Canyon High School in Bailey, Colorado. During the incident, Duane Roger, 53 years old, the hostage taker,took six female students hostage and sexually assaulted them, later releasing four.

When police broke open the classroom's door with explosives, Morrison opened fire with a semi-automatic pistol before shooting hostage Emily Keyes in the head. The other remaining hostage escaped unharmed, and paramedics confirmed that Morrison had committed suicide shortly before police were able to enter the classroom. Keyes was pronounced dead at 4:32 p.m. MDT (23:32 UTC) at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Denver, Colorado after undergoing emergency surgery.

Today marked the red-letter-day for USA Women's Hockey Team as they swiftly beat China with 12-1 score during an opening match at the Olympics.

Jenny Potter, also made a record on the American Olympic history when she scored 3 major goals against China. Two goals was made by Meghan Duggan’s two goals.
So far, it has been the 9th victory of the the U.S.A Women's Hockey Team against China after nine macthes, where China never succeeded in beating the US Hockey Team.

Illinois Earthquake Hits, 3.8 Magnitude Experienced

As early as around 4 o' clock in the morning today, Chicago, Illinois felt the 4.3-magnitude earthquake. So far, this is the second time that Illinois was struck by an earthquake for over 30 years now.

The earthquake affected Sycamore, Virgil and Chicago, Illinois and went as far as Wisconsin and Tennessee. Reports from DeKalb and Kane Counties, books fell off the shelves and rattled the walls.

Fortunately, there was no major damage or death recorded due to this incident.

Another Earthquake in Haiti

Last week, we have been shocked by the news that Haiti has been devastated by an intensity 7 earthquake that caused death to people there, as well as, damaged to properties that caused huge amount of money.

Although the place has just been starting to get up and trying to recover from the said tragedy, earlier today, January 20, 2010, Haiti was once again struck by a 6.1 earthquake intensity, according to US Geological Survey. The death toll has been estimated to more or less 200,000 deaths.

With this type of calamity, unity is very important to help those who are in dire need in Haiti. Let's just cross our fingers that no more aftershocks will affect the same place.

Typhoon Pepeng Caused Philippine Catastrophe

After the tragic events caused by Typhoon Ondoy to the Philippines, Typhoon Pepeng caused much more catastrophe to this poor country.

It is a heart-aching scene to see how my fellow Filipinos have suffered and are still suffering from the sea-deep flood and its aftermath. Aside from their properties being carried away/damaged by the flood caused by these two Typhoons, Ondoy and Pepeng, some lives were also taken, while others are/were still missing.

Update: According to PAG-ASA, the Philippine Wetaher Station, forecasted that Typhoon Pepeng will be out of the country this evening after 10 days of causing great devastation to the country.

Joseph "Joe" Dado, a freshman student of Penn State, was found dead after it was reported that he was missing. This is another campus crime that victimized the students, just like the case of Annie Le, who was also found dead inside the Yale Campus.

He was last seen leaving a Phi Gamma Delta fraternity party at around 3 in the morning last Sunday and his body was found by the school's repairman. His cause of death was not yet published but rumors were spreading that it was due to alcohol poisoning.

Since Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Juan Miguel Marquez will have their fight tomorrow, the Sports Unlimited TV show at ABS-CBN channel 4, which I am watching right now hosted by Dianne Castillejo, features the preparation of the two Boxing Champions.

If you can still recall, the people's champ and a truly Filipino pride, Manny Pacquiao, had already fight against these two boxers and he (Manny) won both the fight.

Anyway, the Sports Unlimited is now interviewing several boxing analysts, who gives their opinion about the two boxing stars that will fight tomorrow. The interviews give us the picture (although vague)of what to expect during the actual fight. They even discussed the Urine Therapy done by Marquez as preparation for the big day.

Let's just wait and see what will be the final verdict.

Just earlier this evening, after a ""beauty pageant-like" process of choosing the administration's standard bearer, Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro won over Bayani(BF) Fernando. You may wish to watch the news video below.

Anyway, during the question and answer portion, I have noticed that Teodoro was more prepared to answer the questions and he even knew how to bring the discussion to his advantage, as he can easily divert the topic to those he knew better. On the other hand, despite Fernando's plea to postpone the Lakas-Kampi meeting, it still pushed through, leaving the latter obviously unprepared - to answer most of the questions, that is.

The question and answer portion between Gibo and BF was done to better determine who among the two is qualified enough to be the standard bearer of the administration's part, the Lakas-Kampi. After it, the "jury" have decided, to everyone's expectations, to choose Teodoro over Fernando to be the official presidential candidate of the party on the 2010 presidential election.

It was rumored that Fernando is not worried about the party's decision, despite the fact that he is a senior member of the party as compared to Teodoro, who is a neophyte in the Lakas-Kampi. It is said that Bayani is still considering running for president even if he was not chosen by his own party.

The Benefits of Kissing

People, especially lovers are fond of kissing. This activity can signify various kinds of emotions and values, such as respect and passion.

But did you know that there are several health benefits that a kiss can offer aside from the transfer of millions of bacteria from one mouth to another?

A kiss is the touching of one person's lips to another place, which is used as an expression of affection, respect, greeting, farewell, good luck, romantic affection or sexual desire. The word comes from Old English cyssan "to kiss", in turn from coss "a kiss".

A warm, moist human mouth is a commune of over 400 different species of micro-organisms. Billions of the little rascals, who easily out-number the human population of the Earth, live quite happily on teeth, the soft fleshy mouth surfaces, and particularly the tongue. These bacteria thrive on all the sugar and carbohydrates that pass by and multiply until we next brush our teeth. Each time we kiss, we pass a few million on to our partner.

Neuroscientists point out that such kissing employs the lips and tongue; highly sensitive areas with lots of afferent neurons sending signals to the brain to release endorphins. These make us go all gooey. Kissing helps prevent hormone-glucocorticoids from forming which can result in stress and high cholesterol. Instead, kissing creates an adrenaline rush which combats hydrocortisone, a stress hormone. Kissing burns up calories in exercising dozens of little face muscles, increasing blood circulation which helps smooth out wrinkles.

Also, 80% of the bacteria we pass to our partner in a kiss are common to most people. More fortunately, the other of the 20% bacteria unique to one person are usually beneficial to the other because they help the immune system to create antibodies to the new bacteria. It can likewise help our teeth by fighting plaque and cavities because kissing stimulates saliva which contains calcium and phosphorus. Don't stop visiting the dentist, but don't stop kissing either.

There are three types of kissed and they are natural kiss, sensual kiss and symbolic kiss. This types of kisses will be discussed on my next post.

UFO: Still An Unexplained Phenomenon

When I opened the google browser just a little earlier, I noticed this new goole doodle with UFO and when you're curious enough to click, you'll be directed to results of unexplained phenomenon.

I was surprised of this viral move of google to market, but I think it's really working, the strategy I mean. As you can see in the image above, the UFO is trying to take away the letter O from the word google.

So, where does this leads us? Maybe, google is trying to implicate that after so many years of research studies, UFO and other unexplained phenomenon are still beyond human's understanding.

Certainly, this new doodle is working as expected, as it awakens the natural interest of any normal human being to discover the unknown and unveil the long-time mystery of the unexplained phenomenon of this world.

Michael Jackson's Burial

At last, after 2 and a half months of mourning, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has already been laid to his final rest. Earlier today, his burial took place at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

There were over 200 mourners who joined the Jackson family in their final mourn. A number of celebrities close to Michael one way or another, have been spotted at the funeral service. Some of them were Gladys Knight, who performed at the event, Stevie Wonder, Elizabeth Taylor, Lisa Marie Presley, Michael's former wife, Barry Bonds and Macaulay Culkin, who is said to be the long time friend of the King of Pop.

The security for the event was very tight and close to the public for safety reasons.

Senator Mar Roxas Gave Up his Presidential Candidacy To Support Noynoy Aquino

Senator Mar Roxas has already announced, minutes ago, that he will give up his aspiration to run for President this 2010 election and support his friend, Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III for his presidential candidacy.On the other hand, press are now trying to get Noynoy's reaction regarding Roxas' declaration but he asked to give him more time to make up his mind and decide on the matter.

If you have been following this news, after former President Cory Aquino's burial, many supporters have been urging Noynoy to run for president, as they strongly believe that he will be a great leader as his parents, Ninoy and Cory. At firs Noynoy was unsure but later it is clear that he is interested to the position.

Anyway, in my opinion, Mar's early declaration of giving up his candidacy for presidency and Noynoy's asking for more time to decide is the party's way of getting the pulse of the masses of whether they approved of the decision or not. I mean, why asked for more time to decide and not confirm your candidacy if Mar had already confirmed it in a way? What are they trying to prove?

Now Showing: The Ultimate Fighting Challenge 102 or better known as the UFC 102. The scheduled fight is on August 29, 2009 at 4 in the afternoon at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. Many UFC fans are now very eager to watch the live streaming of the UFC 102 fight between Randy “The Natural” Couture and Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Noguiera.

Posting the live streaming of any shows on the web is illegal, so I can not post it here. So what we are left now, is to watch it through PPP or Pay Per View, or either watch for the free replay of the fight on TV.

DJ Am Found Dead

DJ Am, Adam Goldstein in real life, was found dead in his apartment yesterday afternoon at the young age of 36. The cause of death was not yet identified as of the moment but police said that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.

Before DJ Am, became famous, he was struggling with his weight, and drugs and alcoholism. He underwent gastric bypass surgery which resulted to a great wight loss, as well as declared that he already quitted drugs and alcohol.

On the other hand, foul play was not considered on his death. He was unmarried and survivors list is still uncomplete.

Rory McIlroy's girlfriend was watching the game, together with her parents and agents during his game. They were cheering him on when a unexpected disaster occured.

Rumors that McIlroy might be disqualified started circulating. According to the Associated Press, officials reviewed his adventures in the bunker at 18 for a possible violation: "His second shot landed in the bunker on the right side, and McIlroy left it there with his third shot. He kicked at the sand in disgust -- a no-no according to the rules, which forbid players from testing the surface before hitting any shots in a hazard. That could have disqualified him. According to ESPN.com, Michael Vick has signed a two-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles as confirmed by his agent, Joel Segal.

The Eagles will hold a news conference on Friday morning to announce his signing. The first year of the deal is for $1.6 million deal with an option for the second year at $5.2 million, FoxSports.com reports.

Casserole Queens on Chicken Pot Pie

Casserole Queens made a Chicken Pot Pie on Food Network last night. If you missed it, here are the ingredients, as well as the procedure on how to do this delicious pie:

1 sheet frozen puff pastry
2 tablespoons butter
1 roasted chicken, shredded
1/4 cup chopped red sweet pepper
2 medium shallots, thinly sliced
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried tarragon, crushed
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup dry white wine
1 1/2 cups peas, blanched
1 1/2 cups carrots, blanched
2 potatoes, peeled, diced, and boiled
1 egg plus 1 tablespoon milk, for egg wash

Thaw puff pastry according to package directions. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Meanwhile, in a large skillet melt butter over medium-high heat. Add chicken, sweet pepper, and shallots and cook 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in flour, salt, tarragon, and black pepper. Add milk and cream all at once. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Stir in wine, peas, carrots and potatoes; heat thoroughly. Transfer the hot chicken mixture to a 1 1/2-quart casserole. Place pastry over the hot chicken mixture in casserole dish. Brush puff pastry with egg wash then cut slits in the pastry to allow steam to escape. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes.
